Regal Logistics has a successful, long standing relationship with Wal-Mart and we pride ourselves in being the #1 provider of 3PL services to Wal-Mart suppliers in the Pacific Northwest. Prior to the new Wal-Mart guidelines for suppliers' MABD, Regal took a proactive approach and worked closely with Wal-Mart's strategic team in its Traffic Department to synchronize customer review days, processing days, and ship intervals. This effort supported lead time adjustments to help our customers meet the new MABD requirements. Over the past several years, Wal-Mart has recognized the significance of suppliers and volume shipping from Regal facilities. The retail giant has adapted its systems and processes to consolidate Regal customer purchase orders (PO) into truckload shipments going directly into center point and DC locations. Regal is able to turn loads quickly by utilizing a "pre-load" process into carrier equipment that is pooled at our facility, also contributing to our customers' ability to meet MABD requirements. Wal-Mart's Traffic Department spots a pool of Wal-Mart Fleet equipment at Regal facilities for shipments moving directly into the retail giant's eight Western DC locations.
If you discover you're out of compliance, Regal will provide all historical data related to your shipments and offer support in working with your Wal-Mart Replenishment Manager to ensure lead times are set accordingly.
The PO ship/cancel window no longer affects the PO or MABD. The ship on date, however, is a product of Wal-Mart's transit calculator and the driver for MABD. When a PO is keyed into Retail Link, the transit calculator considers the weight, cube, MABD and generates a ship on date. Adhering to the ship on date allows POs to deliver within the assigned MABD. Wal-Mart measures and holds suppliers accountable for MABD and does not assess chargebacks for shipping outside the ship/cancel window.
The MABD compliance program includes all prepaid loads and collect, full truckload shipments. Centerpoint, Wal-Mart and Sam's Import Distribution Center, Direct to Store Delivery, collect LTL, small package and air freight are all excluded from this program for now.
Collect shipments moving through consolidation facilities are not included at this time. Wal-Mart plans to include collect Centerpoint and collect LTL shipments in 2010 and will provide prior notice. All prepaid shipments are included in the MABD program.
Missing a Friday delivery automatically moves it to Monday and causes it to fall outside the window. Collect LTL shipments are currently not included in the program. Prepaid LTL shipments are included in the program and if deliveries are not consistent and having an impact on MABD, Regal will offer support in working with your Replenishment Manager to ensure lead times are set accordingly.
