In 2007 Regal Logistics upgraded its entire fleet of forklift trucks (115) to Mitsubishi N Series Forklift Trucks with Envir02 engines. The Envir02 engines are rated to exceed 2010 emission levels and produce less than 30% of the smog-forming emissions allowed, thereby reducing air pollution and green house gases. All Raymond VNA forklifts are electric.
Regal Trucking Services, a division of Regal Logistics, is in preliminary discussions with Kenworth to replace its current fleet of trucks with Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) trucks. Heavy-duty natural gas vehicles with weight and range requirements typically fuel up on LNG, which allows them to store more fuel on board with less tank weight, making them more environmentally sound. Kenworth is the only truck manufacturer to offer Class 8 LNG trucks as a factory-installed option and continues to lead the way in providing eco-friendly logistics solutions. Kenworth Truck Company will expand its presence in the growing market for environmentally- friendly, liquefied natural gas (LNG) vehicles by beginning production of Kenworth T800 LNG trucks at its manufacturing facility in Renton, WA, in 2009. Under an exclusive agreement with Westport Innovations Inc. in Vancouver, B.C., Kenworth will use Westport’s LNG fuel system technology adapted for the Cummins ISX 15-liter engine.
Regal Logistics uses 100% recyclable pallets. When a pallet can no longer be repaired it is recycled for alternative products, like mulch and animal bedding. Regal also repairs all pallets on site. Plastic pallets may last longer on average than wood but wood pallets are easier to repair, which extends the life of the pallet for a number of years and encourages reuse.
Regal Logistics recycles all paper products (white and green bar), carton labels, cardboard, plastics, and aluminum cans. Recycle bins are placed in convenient locations to make it easy for employees to recycle and agreements are in place with local disposal/recycle company for regular pickups. Whenever possible, Regal Logistics also practices a paperless environment at each of its facilities (which total more than 1.3 million square feet of space) through the use of radio frequency (RF) technology for physical inventory and cycle counting. This eliminates the need for traditional paper-based records. Regal Logistics recycles all printer toner cartridges as well. This is an easy way to reduce the impact on the environment without a lot of effort or expense.
Regal Logistics recycles all used engine oil and oil filters from our on-site maintenance shop. Receptacles are routinely delivered to a local collection center.
Regal Logistics is "greening" the supply chain by utilizing high energy efficient lighting at each of its facilities (which total more than 1.3 million square feet of space).
